About Us
There are several open schooling boards running in India that provide an opportunity for students to pursue education despite financial hurdles, familial issues, and a variety of problems. Open schooling Boards provide vast opportunities to students who perhaps cannot afford or dedicate to regular schooling.
However, education is a basic right for any citizen and it must not be denied for any reason as education is the utmost priority for any person thus we have established the Delhi Institute of Open Schooling. Its mandate is to “Reach the Unreached” in terms of Education & Skills, in India, through Open & Distance learning modes.

Vision and Mission
The mission of DIOS is to provide modern open and flexible, life related educational opportunities to those who cannot attend a regular school with a special focus on marginalized socio-religious groups. The mission is to increase access with equity in education, ensure social justice and to universalize high quality education.
Our Vision is to create a country which values education and stands for every such person who wants to educate himself. As an organization we hope to see our country educated and enlightened.

Open Basic Education -Programme
Open basic education programme providing an elementary education at three levels, for school drop-outs and neo-literates, out of school learners through Accredited Agencies. Under its “Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA)”, the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has been endeavoring to provide Basic Education to all children in the country and thus we have open basic education system.
Secondary School Examination Certificate
(High School i.e. X class)
Secondary School Examinations -The examinations are conducted twice in a year in accordance with the syllabi prescribed by the Board. After passing the examination, a certificate of qualification is awarded by the Board. Eligibility Criteria In the secondary school certificate (10th class) course for those who have completed 14 years of age.
Senior Secondary School Examination
(Intermediate-i.e. XIIth Class)
Senior Secondary Examinations- The examinations are conducted twice in a year in accordance with the syllabi prescribed by the Board. After passing the examination, a certificate of qualification is awarded by the Board. Eligibility Criteria in the Secondary/SR. Secondary school certificate course for those who have completed 16 years of age.
Objective
- To contribute to the national goal of universalization of education through a high quality system of open schooling.
- To reach out of disadvantaged and marginalized groups such as girls, women, scheduled castes, schedules tribes, minorities, differently abled, rural persons, backward sections, dalits, nomadic persons and others who need a flexible system of education.
- To design and develop courses at secondary and senior secondary level that would be offered through open schooling.
- To plan, design and develop curricular and courses in vocational areas in self-learning format in keeping with the ideas of work-cantered education.
- To function as a Board of Education and certify courses both academic and vocational offered through open schooling to promote equivalent education.
